Dear Mr. Wible,

On behalf of NASCIO, I am pleased to inform you that during its May 25th meeting, NASCIO’s Executive Committee endorsed the Alliance for Building Regulatory Reform in the Digital Age’s Model Procurement Requirements, including its Statement of Interoperability, as being consistent with the approaches and techniques we use at NASCIO as well as approaches used by other organizations, such as SEARCH (the National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics) and the Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative. Your standards and approach to interoperability are important and should be of great value to NCSBCS and National Alliance members, as well as those within the building codes community. NASCIO believes that the creation of formal requirements, including those that address interoperability, in the procurement of IT systems for building code regulation is a vital step forward in pursuit of streamlining business processes and creating efficiencies.

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the review of the model procurement requirements. Please feel free to contact NASCIO Issues Coordinator, Mary Gay Whitmer, at mwhitmer@amrinc.net or (859) 514-9209 with any questions you might have.

Sincerely

Gerry Wethington
President, NASCIO
