ALLIANCE FOR BUILDING REGULATORY REFORM IN THE DIGITAL AGE –
NATIONAL PARTNERSHIP TO STREAMLINE GOVERNMENT

How to Get Involved in the Alliance / National Partnership

As a public – private partnership the Alliance / National Partnership seeks the input and support of government agencies, private sector firms, trade associations, public interest groups, information technology firms, consumers and all who are interested in support the Alliance / National Partnership’s Vision of:

Providing information and materials that help state and local governments strengthen public safety, economic competitiveness and disaster resiliency.”

How can you get involved?    Listed below are five possible ways that you can consider.

1.  FEEDBACK

Your feedback to us on the content of this website, our streamlining information, products and materials are important to us.   We need your candid assessment of the usefulness of our work products, the content of our conferences/workshop and the usefulness and ease of navigation of this website.

Please share your thoughts/comments with our Secretary, Robert Wible by emailing him at:  rcwible@comcast.net or phone him at 703-568-2323.

2.  SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES

We are aware of over 63 state and local jurisdictions that have made use of one or more of our streamlining models and materials over the past two years. To help us better evaluate the effectiveness of those materials and to share both the success stories and the problems being faced by state and local jurisdictions undertaking streamlining we need you to share with us your experiences in these areas – the good, the bad and in some cases the down right ugly.

What barriers did you encounter?   How did you overcome them?

Do you have any lessons learned from your experiences that you are willing to share with other jurisdictions?   With other companies?   Other associations?

Did you come up with an innovative streamlining practice or use of information technology?

Are there improvements or changes we should make to our models and materials that came out of your experience?

As noted above -  please share these with us by contacting our Secretary Robert Wible.

3.  PARTICIPATE IN PROGRAMS/ ATTEND CONFERENCES

Another way to get involved is to watch for future streamlining conference and workshop notices and register and attend them.   A second National Streamlining Conference is being tentatively considered for sometime in late 2007 and the Alliance is considering participating in several regional or state streamlining programs later this year. These events and registration information will be posted on this website.

4.  BECOME A MEMBER OR AFFILIATE OF THE ALLIANCE / NATIONAL PARTNERSHIP

The Alliance/National Partnership through 2006 has asked for a commitment of in-kind services or funding support to those Alliance Partners and Affiliates listed on our website.   In March, 2006, the Alliance opened up such membership for the first time to private sector firms and consumer groups.

In the spring of 2007, the Alliance/ National Partnership will consider a formal dues structure to assist us in moving forward with the work agenda that was proposed at our February 15-16 National Streamlining Conference.  This website will be updated with additional information on membership assessments later this spring.

Please contact us at the address below if you are interested in Alliance membership and would like to learn more about that opportunity.

5.  PROVIDE FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR ALLIANCE PROJECTS AND/OR SPONSORSHIP FOR UPCOMING CONFERENCES

Lastly over the years a number of Alliance Members and Partners have provided direct financial support to our Streamlining initiatives by either funding the development of certain streamlining materials including:  the HUD Guide;  8-Page Elected Officials Guide; Surveys on uses of electronic plans submittal, review and tracking; and the Survey on Return on Investment from Using Information Technology; the annual CD-ROM update reports to the Governors, Mayors and Counties, and sponsorship of the National Streamlining Conference.

As noted in the National Streamlining Conference Report, a new series of streamlining materials have been approved for design, production and national distribution in 2007- 2008. You can view these products and learn more about how to participate in their funding, development and distribution by clicking on this link and viewing "Actions by the Alliance" report.

If your company, association, government agency is interested in assisting in the funding of any of these materials please contact our Alliance Secretary as noted above.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST AND POTENTIAL FUTURE INVOLVEMENT WITH THE ALLIANCE/NATIONAL PARTERSHIP

WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU SOON!
